The paper presents some results that have been achieved by our journal Sovremennye problemy distantsionnogo zondirovaniya Zemli iz kosmosa  (Current Problems in Remote Sensing of the Earth from Space) by the date of issue of the current 50 th anniversary number. This event coincided with the 15 th  conference of the same title conducted  every  year  at  the  Space  Research  Institute  of  the  Russian  Academy  of  Sciences.  The  paper  briefly  discusses these, in our view, important milestones in the development of remote sensing of the Earth in Russia and neighboring countries. The Editorial Board of the journal, Program and Organizing Committees of the conference  sincerely  congratulate  all  researchers  who  find  these  publications  useful  for  presenting  and  exchanging expert views and research results.
